Power Metal

Power metal is largely keyboard, guitar, bass, drum, and vocalist setup. It has a vaguely epic quality to it and grew mostly from speed/thrash metal, and generally the lyrics are fantasy based. But metal genres are highly subjective, and this definition is only the way I regard it.

Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns) - Blind Guardian (Nightfall in Middle Earth)
My favorite song off of the album easily. It's not as heavy, or as speed metal, as many of the other tracks on the album, which is based around Tolkien's Silmarillion. It retains a sort of melancholic feel, and it almost has a minstralic feel to it. But beyond that it's quality power metal.

Blinded No More - Sonata Arctica (Reckoning Night)
One of the most well known bands within power metal, someone else already posted quite a few songs of theirs from other albums. It's got less of a keyboard base and a larger guitar emphasis than many power metal and not as much of a fantasy base as some other songs.

Beauty of the Beast - Nightwish (Century Child)
Nightwish is one of the best known metal bands with a female vocalist.Whether or not they deserve this is debatable, but that's irrelevant. Often cited as goth metal, Nightwish is more closely a power metal band. In this, their longest song, they have an intensely epic feel, with the speed of a power metal song.Most of the lyrics are sung by their main vocalist, Tarja, while a portion at the end are read focusing on a recurring theme, the dead poet.
